Clifton Co-op supports a Voice to Parliament; we support a Yes vote.
We encourage the community to find out why the ‘Yes’ vote is such a crucial step towards recognition and self-determination. Please take the time to review reputable information for and against the Voice, including the Yes23 website and the Australian Government Official Referendum website to help you make an informed decision.
We respect that there is a range of opinions about the Voice, including within First Nations communities and organisations. The Co-op’s philosophy of working towards recognition and understanding, fostering respect and building knowledge aligns with constitutional recognition and a Voice to parliament.
On 14 October, please consider these significant points;
-
Recognising and respecting 65,000 years of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture for the first time in Australia’s 122-year-old constitution
-
Listening to a diverse group of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people about the policies and challenges that affect them
-
Protecting the Voice from politics and bureaucracies by putting it in the constitution, giving it the security it needs to provide meaningful and honest advice.
